PRESENTATION RE:
RECYCLING SCHEME
The Chairman introduced Mrs Sue Davies, who recapped on the original
reason for the scheme, the system now in place, and the Government
targets involved. The scheme was proving to be a great success. The
three catchwords were: Reuse, Recycle, Repair. More food waste was
needed for the biodigester, but home composting was also encouraged.
The District Council was working closely with the Shropshire Waste
partnership, and towards the end of nex year it was envisaged that most
of Shropshire would adopt the
South Shropshire scheme.
The Chairman then opened the discussion to the floor, and Mr Hogg asked
whether it was possible to have a plastic bottle bank at the Baron f
Beef. Mrs Davies said it was hoped to have these in the future.
Mr Owen asked about recycling by the District Council. Mrs Davies said
that a lot of waste was recycled, but more could be done.
Commercial waste from businesses required a different licence which the
District Counvcil did not have. Mrs Davies then explained how the
biodigester worked.
The Chairman thanked Mrs Davies , who then left the meeting.
