MEETING - April 2005


Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 5 April 2005 

PRESENT
Mr K Barnett (Chairman), Mr T Hughes (Vice Chairman), Mrs B Sharpe, Mr P Davies, Mr C Savery, Mr I Owen, County Councillor N Hartin.
7 members of the public.

OPEN DISCUSSION
Mrs Evans reported that the road sweeper now cleans all the way along Weston Road, but only on one side. It was thought that generally the village was cleaned very well. Mr Chambers said that other areas of the village suffered from litter, notably Oil Mill Lane and the layby and asked whether a litter bin could be provided. Mr Hartin to make enquiries.

Mrs Edwards said that the village sign spelled Bucknell with an “a” instead of an “e”.

Mr Chambers reported some cases of vandalism in the village.

Mr P Davies said that the Carers had helped the boys from the care home to build a den in the woodyard’s private woods and had also watched whilst the lads destroyed dippers’ nests under the Lingen bridge. Mrs Evans said that the children had been very rude on the train and the Carers had made no attempt to control them.

It appears the Contractor working for Severn Trent adjacent to the garage had thrown away the footpath sign and the kissing gate. Mr Hartin to contact County.

Mr Cornes said the area around the notice board on the Causeway had become very badly fouled by dogs, and asked whether dog fouling signs and repellents could be used.

Mrs Parker suggested that the parking by the school could be improved, and also said the car park itself had become pot holed. The Chairman to enquire about tar spray and chippings, also at The Tyndings turning area.

The Chairman then closed the Open Meeting.

MATTERS ARISING
Mrs Sharpe asked about the Buckingham Palace Garden Party. Chairman to follow up.

Flooding in Bedstone Road. Mr Savery said this caused a problem mainly in the winter when it became frozen. Chairman to pursue.

Bench opposite Turkey Hall. Mr P Davies to get this installed.

Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinators’ list. Chairman tabled 200 copies.

Notice Boards. These should be installed shortly.

PLANNING
Application No. 1/05/16803/F Change of Use - agricultural land to domestic curtilege at Bedstone. Mr Savery declared a prejudicial interest, but explained what was involved, it was resolved to make no comment.

Application No. 1/05/16732/F Brick skin and extension at Bergamot, Chapel Lawn Road. Supported.

Application No. 1/05/16572/F Extension at The Oak had been granted.

DAFFODIL LANE DEVELOPMENT
The daffodils were now in bloom and some other work had been done on the field. Grants had been applied for.
The roadways either side of the BT pole should be done this month.

FINANCE
It was agreed unanimously to pay the following:

Letter from Bucknell PCC thanking the Parish Council for commissioning repair work to the churchyard wall of such a superb standard.

CHAIRMAN’S ITEMS
None. 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS
It was mentioned that the tree at the end of Dog Kennel Lane should have a TPO placed on it. Mr Chambers was invited to speak from the floor and said this had been investigated in the past and was not possible.

In response to a question, Mr Hartin explained that the whole of South Shropshire was scheduled to have both black wheelie bins and green wheelie bins. Mr Hartin was asked to arrange for a District Council representative to make a presentation at the June meeting of the Parish Council.

Mrs Sharpe reported that the Redlake Club were very concerned that the speed limit seemed to he ineffective, and also that there was great disquiet regarding the memorial hail being sold and demolished. The Chairman said the Parish Council was aware of the Redlake Club’s concerns.

DATE AND VENUE FOR NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be the Annual Parish Assembly followed by the Annual Parish Council Meeting and will be held on Tuesday 3 May 2005 in Bucknell Memorial hall at 7.30pm.

There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.55pm.
