Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on Tuesday 1 February
2005
PRESENT
Mr K Barnett (Chairman), Mr T Hughes (Vice Chairman),
Mr I Owen, Mrs F Hughes, Mrs K Law, Mr P Davies,
Mr C Savery, County Councillor N Hartin.
9 members of the public.
OPEN DISCUSSION
Mr Chambers asked about the traffic control measures. Mr
Hartin replied that this was still in progress.
Mr Jackson said that the repairs to the churchyard wall were looking very good. Mr Owen said the Contractor hoped to finish the work tomorrow.
Mr Hogg asked whether the surface of Weston Road would soon be properly repaired now that the building works were nearing completion. Mr Hartin to check.
The Chairman then closed the Open Meeting and announced that Mr Jack Challoner had passed away since the last meeting. A collection had been made among Parish Councillors and some flowers sent to his funeral.

MINUTES OF MEETING HELD 4 JANUARY 2005
Under “Finance” Mr Jackson had been paid £42.30. Subject to this correction, the Minutes were approved unanimously and signed by the Chairman as a true and accurate record.
MATTERS ARISING
Peppercorn Rent for the Daffodil Lane site. Chairman confirmed that this amounted to £1 per annum, payable if demanded.
Bedstone Road flooding. Nothing to report at present.
School Fence. Mrs Evans was invited to speak from the floor and said that the project had been started and desqns were available for inspection in the school.
PLANNING
Mr Savery declared a personal interest in the 2nd & 3rd
of the following applications.
Application No. 1/04/16548/LB Installation of a satellite dish at Bedstone House Lodge. No objection.
Application No. 1/05/16611/TC Felling of an ash tree at Manor Farm House, Bedstone. It was resolved to leave this to the discretion of the Tree Officer.
Application No. 1/05/16572/F Extension at The Oak, Bedstone. Mrs Hughes proposed this be supported, seconded by Mrs Law and approved on a show of hands, 6 in favour with one abstention.
Application No. 1/04/16422/F Boundary fence and gates at Two Hoots, Bucknell, had been granted conditionally.
DAFFODIL LANE
DEVELOPMENT
Mr Hogg asked whether the Chairman had signed the Lease. The
Chairman replied that the final version of the Lease had to
be tidied up and would be signed by the Chairman and the
Clerk.
BT Pole. This matter was in hand and could cost up to £2,000 as underground cables also had to be moved. Mr Hogg had made enquiries for grants towards the moving of the pole. The Chairman proposed that subject to other funding, the Parish Council pay 25 of the cost involved, up to a maximum of £500. Approved unanimously on a show of hands.
Mr Hogg said that legal problems had delayed things but it was now hoped that work would start mid March.
Switch on Shropshire. Mr Hogg explained that the installation of equipment had been delayed owing to problems forming a committee. Bucknell had been removed from the programme, but would be held in reserve. Chairman to pursue.

Letter + enclosures from Mr Matthew Green MP re: Removal of
BT payphones. Chairman to reply on behalf of the Parish
Council.

CHAIRMAN’S ITEMS
None.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Mr Hughes asked about the replacement notice boards. The
Chairman replied that this matter was in hand.
Mr P Davies to check re: new bench.
Mr Hughes asked whether the date of Parish Council meetings could be highlighted on Agendas. Chairman to discuss with the Clerk outwith the meeting. Parish Council meetings are invariably held on the first Tuesday of each month.
Chairman to report various street light faults.
DATE AND VENUE FOR NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 1 March 2005 in
Bucknell Memorial Hall at 7.30pm.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.35pm.
